Its various applications include reading facial temperature profile for detecting SARS and undertaking lie detection. However its potential in the field of medical infrared imaging is still in its infancy. Unexploited but potential areas of medical infrared imaging using thermography may offer valuable insights into various biological functions like inflammation processes, arthritis, rheumatism, circulatory disturbances and skin allergies with skin rashes.
The infrared imaging technologies have evolved dramatically in the past decade with the advent of new materials and advanced read out architectures.
